Dermot Gleeson

Change Governor:

After graduating from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, I headed up the Home Affairs section of the Conservative Research Department, before becoming a member of Sir Christopher Tugendhat's cabinet in the European Commission from 1977 to 1979.

In 1979 I became the Midland Bank's EEC representative in Brussels, a post I held for two years before joining my current company, MJ Gleeson Group plc, in 1982. I became Chief Executive in 1988 and Executive Chairman in 1994.

I was a Director of the Housing Corporation from 1990 to 1995 and of the Construction Industry Board from 1995 to 2000. From 2003-2005, I was Chairman of the Major Contractors Group.
