After graduating from Queen's University Belfast, with a degree in Electronics and a PhD in Communications Technology, and a career in academia, I became Provost of Magee College in Londonderry and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Planning in the University of Ulster.
I've also worked in the US, at Purdue University, Indiana, and at Queen's University in Belfast; undertaken research in telecommunications, signal processing and entrepreneurial studies; and written two books, a course text and more than 80 other academic publications and articles.
I helped found two computing firms in Northern Ireland and Chair Omagh's Northern Ireland Centre for Trauma and Transformation.
